Janani has an avid interest in painting. Even as a kid, her parents encouraged her to pursue painting. She has been undergoing formal training under Ms.Sagi at Sagi Art Studio in Sunnyvale since 2001. Her primary painting medium is Oil on Canvas. She focuses more on elegant blending techniques. Her works include "Streaks of Light and Shadow", "PanchaBoothams - The five Forces of Nature", and "Gestures in Sand Dunes". Apart from being an artist, Janani is primarily a Bharatanatyam dancer and is currently learning from Vidhya Subramaniam, artistic director of Lasya Dance Company in Cupertino. Janani teaches South Indian folk, Semi classical dance at Nrityakalya, a folk dance school started by her in 2004.www.nrityakalya.org She is also one of the directors of Sanhiti South Indian dance troupe - www.sanhiti.org. Janani enjoys fusing thoughts and ideas from various Indian myths and dance compositions into her paintings. She wishes to paint more, explore new ideas and techniques in future.
